Who is Who

William and Mary both came from Germany.

William was born in 1832
Mary was born in 1840

They married January 29, 1859 in La Porte, IN. I'll add more details about this in another post.

Their children were

Mary who was born 23 February 1861

William who was born 9 December 1862

Lena (Magdalena) born 3 October 1866

Mena who was born May of 1870

August who was born 10 March of 1874

Anna who was born 2 May of 1882

Such large gaps between usually indicate miscarriages or children who died between census records. I have checked church records but haven't found anyone else.

Mary had William, Matilda, Louis and Anna

William had Herman, Minnie, Mary, Walter, Hattie, and William

Lena had Edwin

Mena died before 1880

August had Arthur, Frank, and Anna

Anna had Milton, Harold, Helen, and Orville

Our parents come from them.

I just wanted to give you a quick rundown on the basic tree. If you haven't checked out my tree or don't have access to it yet, let me know and I'll send you a link.

Next post I will share the will of the first William. A lot of wills were from the men who died first and they simply said that they were leaving everything to their wives. Since Mary died first, William has an itemized list of everything from livestock to bedding.
