Wilhelm Heinrich Felton is where we will start.
He was born in 6 January 1832 in Raversbeuren,
Rhineland, Germany, Prussia.
His parents were John Peter Velton and Anna Catherina Schell or Schnell. He came to America and Indiana in the mid 1850’s. I believe he came to La Porte to meet up with his brothers Phillip Velton and Jacob Felten who arrived before he did. (They came together in 1851-ish.) This was a time of political upheaval and they were not the oldest males, so this could be a reason why they ultimately left.
William married Maria May Johanna Knebel. She was born 14 March 1840 in Germany. I don’t
know her origin story yet. I believe her father was Christoph Knebel and that she had a brother named
Christopher as well.
They married 29 January 1859 in La Porte.
